She graduated magna cum laude from St. John’s University in 1986 and the Marshall Wythe School of Law, at the College of William and Mary, in 1989. She also attended Cambridge University in England where she studied international law.
She began working with the firm as an attorney in 1990 and became a partner in 1998. At their 2012 Annual Convention, Ms. Stanton was inducted as president of WILG, Workers’ Injury & Law Advocacy Group. WILG is the national non-profit membership organization dedicated to representing the interests of millions of workers and their families who, each year, suffer the consequences of workplace injuries and illnesses. The group acts principally to assist attorneys and non-profit groups in advocating the rights of injured workers through education, communication, research, and information gathering. She previously had served as Treasurer and CLE chair.
Ms. Stanton is the immediate past president of the Society of New York Workers Compensation Bar Association and is currently the Vice President of the Brehon Law Society of Nassau County and serves as 1st Vice Chair of the Workers Compensation Section of the American Association for Justice.
Catherine is a member of both the New York State Bar Association and New York State Trial Lawyers of America. Ms. Stanton has once again been named as a Super Lawyer for 2013 in the area of workers compensation by Super Lawyers magazine. In addition, Super Lawyers named Ms. Stanton one of the Top Women Attorneys in New York. We are very proud that she and another partner, Barbara Doblin Tilker, have been chosen for this honor.
Ms. Stanton was also the recipient of this prestigious award in 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2012 and has received the highest rating thru AVVO. She has extensive experience in dealing with all types of workers compensation claims, including those related to occupational diseases and has lectured to unions, bar associations and medical groups on topics of importance to the injured worker and those who assist them.
